I am an experienced Social Worker and Rehab Case Manager in adquired brain injury and spinal cord injury as well as mental health.
Lucia Berlanga is a Social Worker- member of AASW (Australian Association Social Workers) after completing her Masters is Social Work at the Australian Catholic University in 2017. She is also a registered Qualified Social Worker in the United Kingdom (Health & Care Professions Council- HCPC) since 2005 after completing her Diploma in Social Work in Spain (2004). Lucia has worked for many years in the disability and social services sectors, gaining invaluable experience working with elderly, mental health and disability clients. She has also worked in Spain for several years assessing clients’ needs and implementing care plans, to ensure individuals could remain living independently in the community.
Lucia arrived to Australia in 2012 and started working for arbias, Specialist Service for people with acquired brain injury in 2013 as a Case Manager, where she gained an excellent understanding of the needs of adults with acquired brain injury and how their impairments impact on their daily living activities. In 2014 she became an Approved Lifetime Care & Support Case Manager (LTCS), and since then has been providing services to individuals diagnosed with a brain and/or spinal cord injury, including those with complex needs. With her previous experience and ongoing personal development, Lucia has become a well-respected, professional and experienced Case Manager.
Lucia, as a Social Worker and Case Manager, strives to provide a person centred approach to assist individuals achieve their goals, and thus enabling them to live as independently as possible in the community, whilst adjusting to their new circumstances. She works together with the individual, their family, as well as with the multidisciplinary team involved, ensuring good coordination of services. Lucia is a team player, who works very closely with other professionals and services providers involved in the rehabilitation and treatment of individuals.
Lucia has experience working with high complex clients, who present with behavioural difficulties, mental health, domestic violence and dysfunctional family dynamics. She has been working with young adults, adults and elderly for the last 12 years, having developed great skills to engage and establish good working relationships, which are essential in obtaining better outcomes. Lucia has been working within the therapeutic and counselling modalities, demonstrating excellence in facilitating complex family meetings, training and case management.
