I am passionate about not only supporting the individual presenting but their support networks both formal and informal which are crucial for improving their outcomes of achieving their goals, however big or small.
I have worked in both inpatient and community settings in areas such as rehabilitation, health, pain management, and alcohol and other substance related brain impairment and disability. I have managed and supervised teams of clinical and support staff. I have been instrumental in setting up services for individuals with acquired brain injury in NSW who previously fell through the gaps. I have provided supports under Medicare, Workers compensation, CTP and LTCS and privately funded.
I have worked both in Australia and UK, in both government, not for profit and for profit settings.
My expertise includes providing community based psychological rehabilitation services, including individual support, development and implementation of behavioural support strategies, mentoring and training in supporting individuals with acquired brain injury. My psychological approaches include CBT, ACT, positive behaviour support, goal setting, and motivational interviewing.
My experience also includes collaborative research, including goal setting and capacity building, with presentations at IMSOP, ASSBI and the 2nd Annual national ABI conference, including an abstract published in peer-reviewed Brain Impairment Journal.
I am an AHPRA board approved supervisor, and have provided over the years many opportunities in the ABI field for clinical psychology masters students. I am keen to continue to support the development of psychologists in the field of complex and challenging areas.
I completed a Master of Psychology (Clinical) at the University of New South Wales, I am endorsed as a Clinical Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia, a Member of the British Psychological Society, including a member of the division of Neuropsychology, the Brain Injury Association of NSW (BIA) and the Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impiarment (ASSBI). In addition, I am an Honoroary Associate at the University of Technology Sydney in the Graduate School of Health.
